About
Loops and Dangles started spring break 2008 with a random trip to the craft section at Wal*Mart. I’m not kidding. I was wandering around with nothing to do and decided to pick up a couple of random items to see if I could make jewelry. The idea sounded pretty neat: “Yeah, I make jewelry,” however, my first piece was a miserable un-wearable piece of crap.
Not knowing anything about what I was doing, I ventured on to make many more pieces and at last I had more pairs of earrings than any normal person should ever own. I decided to start selling, but first I needed a name. And that is all thanks to my mom- who also was never afraid to tell me when my jewelry was just plain ugly.
As I packed to head back to school, I had a little basket (complete with handle, and if you prefer you may envision it with a bright ribbon around the side) filled of my newly made jewelry. I was ecstatic. I received a lot of compliments and needless-to-say I was shocked I made it through a door way frame. I took my lovely basket to my former roommates, who could not have been less pleased. It was all I could to steal their attention to look through the basket, I wish I were kidding. They barely glanced at the pieces, much less wished to actually buy them. I persevered to sit in our community building and sit and talk to other girls who surely would be interested. No, they weren’t. Let’s say, epic failure to be nice. Not one person was interested. But I continued to better my skills and made even more unsellable jewelry.
A couple of weeks later, I took my jewelry up to the elementary school I worked at. I hoped that the teachers would be interested, and they were! The first day I sold well over $50 and had requests from one of the teachers. I couldn’t have been happier.
From a bad beginning, I have only been blessed as time has gone on. I’ve set up tables at several shows including, Pumpkin Town (Oct 2008) and several of Berry College’s events (LIVEstock, Arts & Crafts Festival). I am very thankful to say that people have taken a real interest in my jewelry and I have received several requests to make items for various people as well as for their friends.
I am very thankful to each and every person who has bought my jewelry! Thank you SO much for your support!
